Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams was born on the 17th
of November 1978 in London (Ontario, Canada) to Sandra Kay (Gale), who is a
nurse along with Lance Frederick McAdams who is a truck driver/furniture mover.
She is English, Welsh and Irish-born. Rachel began acting as a teenager. When
she was 13 years old, she was a part of Shakespearean performances at summer
camp for theater. After graduating, Rachel received a BFA degree from York
University in Theater. After making her debut on the episode of Disney's The
Famous Jett Jackson (1998), she co-starred in the Canadian television show
Slings and Arrows (2003) which was a comedy-drama that focused on the trials
and tribulations of the members of a Shakespearean theatre group. She also was
awarded an Gemini award for her performance in 2003.Her breakout role in the
role of Regina George in the hit comedy Mean Girls (2004) instantly catapulted
her onto the short list of the most popular young actresses. After that she
co-starred with Ryan Gosling as the romantic drama adaptation of Nicholas
Sparks' bestseller The Notebook (2004). This was a huge hit at the box office ,
and was the most loved romantic drama for an audience of young people.
Following filming, McAdams and Gosling became romantically involved and dated
through mid-2007. McAdams and Gosling were soon in a relationship and began to
date. McAdams appeared in The Lucky Ones (2007) and State of Play (2008),
respectively. She also starred in The Time Traveler's Wife(2009) and Robert
Downey Jr. in Guy Ritchie's international smash Sherlock Holmes (2009). McAdams
was the shrewd producer for Morning Glory (2010). She also was the fiancee with
a materialistic character Owen Wilson in Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris
(2011). McAdams returned to romantic drama territory with The Vow (2012), where
she played opposite Channing Tatum. McAdams also appears alongside Ben Affleck
in Terrence Malick's To the Wonder (2012) and alongside Noomi Rapace in Brian
de Palma's thriller Passion (2012).In 2005, McAdams received ShoWest's "Supporting
Actress of the Year" Award as well as the "Breakthrough Actress of
the Year" at the Hollywood Film Awards
