Brooke Christa Shields was born on May 31, 1965. She was a first-time child model and received acclaim at the age of 12 due to her lead role in the film of Louis Malle Pretty Baby (1978). She continued to model until her teens and was a part of several dramas during the 1980s, including The Blue Lagoon (1980) and Franco Zeffirelli's Endless Love (1981).In 1983, Shields put aside her work as a model in order to study at Princeton University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in Romance Languages. Shields began acting again in the 1990s and appeared in minor role in movies. She also played a role in the NBC sitcoms Suddenly Susan (1996-2000), for which she received two Golden Globe nominations, and Lipstick Jungle (2008-2009). In the year 2017, Shields returned to NBC with a major recurring role in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in the show's 19th season. She is the daughter and businessman Frank Shields (1941-1903). According to William Addams Reitwiesner's research, Shields is related to a number noble families from Italy and particularly Genoa and Rome. These are namely (in chronological order of descent from 1355 to 1965) the Gattilusi-Palaiologos-Savoy, Grimaldi, Imperiali, Carafa, Doria, Doria-Pamphili-Landi, Chigi-Albani, and Torlonia dynasties. Marina Torlonia of Civitella Cisi of Civitella Cisi was the Italian noblewoman and the daughter of an American prince, was Teri's paternal grandmother. Her great-uncle was Italian nobleman Alessandro Torlonia, the husband of Infanta Beatriz of Spain.When Teri announced that she was pregnant, Frank's family offered her a sum of money to stop the pregnancy.
